Thought the 165 was also used on 4 cyl TBI S10/S15 pickups in the late 80s, the 165 wasn't used on too many vehicles. Definitely not as many as the 7730 was.
Two years ago, 165s were fairly plentiful and I could pick those up generally 25% cheaper than a 7730 (where I live, the wrecking yards generally charge about the same price for an ECM as a "core charge" from GM when you buy a new one).
Last year, 165s started to get harder to find and started to go for the same price as a 7730. Now, I can't seldom find any 165s and when I do, the wrecking yards generally want 25% more than for a 7730.
If your MAF sensor ever goes, I would strongly suggest looking at the 7730 conversion. It's cheaper to convert to SD than to buy a new MAF sensor.
