Looking for bin file on my 87 GTA.
My friend just bought a burning program that can burn chips, and he got it for his 87 Grand National. So anyways he said he'll burn mine, or at least take a look at it, but told it be best if someone can email me or direct me to place that has done a bin file for a 87 GTA. Right now the car is stock, but i want the chip to run at its best rather than this restrictive stock crap.
Anyways if u guys can, it would be a big help. Email me at greekmafia2@juno.com if u can help, or got the file.
If u need anymore info please tell to make it easier.
Oh and by the way since i'm at it, where exactly is the ECM chip located on the 87 GTA...thanks!

Get the the ARAP.BIN from www.diy-efi.org and start from there.
There is a TON of info on the 1989 ARAP Bin on the DIY Prom Board, including a few things to change to make it work optimally. Too many for me to rehash. Just do a search on "ARAP" on the DIY Prom Board and you should find it. The ARAP Bin is about the best "base" bin for a MAF car like yours. The only thing is you will no longer need the Cold Start Injector.
As the "simplest fix" you can just unplug it. Ultimately, you should remove it. Lots of info on that and none hard.
Basically you are converting yourself to the 1989 MAF system which is the best of the 3rd Gen MAF systems IMO. And the ARAP Bin is the "best" of the GM Bins for the 1989 MAF cars. If anything, the ARAP BIN is a bit too aggressive for the spark and most guys find they have to "tone it down" a bit.

Thanks, your the best man! One more question..lol Are all those the same, meaning they would work for my car, but each one is a little different?

Also, different versions are "milder" and some are "wilder". The ARAP Bin that I have pointed you to is probably the best, especially it's MAF scalar tables. But you MUST make a few tweaks.
Do some "searching" on ARAP on the DIY Prom Board. Far more info that I can regurgitate.

Hey thanks for the files. Ok so some are manual too, i see. But the problem i'm stuck at is that i cant seem to find a program to open them. We tried my friends program, and he uses it for his grand national.
Its called BMCS Engine Tuner, but it wouldnt open the files, something about invalid bin file or something.
Then i searched and found Cat Turner, they have a 30-day evaluation program, so it tried it. When i load the bins it says this:
"The ECM Definition File in use is not compatible with this source file. The file indicates that the $6E ECM Definition File should be used."
So it looks like the program is using ECM 42 files or something. But does this all mean i have to buy those definitions, or do i have to tweak the program? All i need is a program to read those files u gave me, then i'm set for now....
Thanks.
