I know a guy that is selling an accel gen V setup. I have never heard of gen V just gen Vl and Vll. Is this thang antique or what. Would i need a commodore to run it. Can you guys tell me if its any good? How does it compare to the gen Vl? Im tired of replacing maf sensors and dont want to burn chips. So I want a dfi setup, but im cheap.

The last version of DOS CalMap won't run it, and if it breaks, there are no parts available to repair it. If you can't afford a Gen 7, try ebay for a used Gen 6 system. The Gen 6 is no longer available from ACCEL/DFI or Summit or Jegs...

 

huh-no parts available? i just re-habbed an old power processor and every internal electronic part is very easily located and procured. gen 5 and 6 both share the exact same micro-controller made by motorola MC68HC11A1 the same prom, different programming for each box, all the caps,diodes, latches and on and on are easy to find and super cheapo cuz the stuff is considered old tech, even in the 6 box. nothing is even surface mount in there. that gen 5 stuff is actually a pretty good little box. used one for a while that i got from lingenfelter and it still works. try running big injectors with the factory 165 ecm and maf. the difference when the maf becomes map and the laptop gets working is nite and day. the 5 boxes use up to calmap 6.0 and are like a 6 box without a few programming parameters. still have nitrous though. no cooling fan control, has only wot timing adjustments still an ok system. if you want a calmap that will work email me and we will handle it.
