ok i know what it is the computer that controls ur car but whats it stand for, also how would i hook it up to a computer to get a beter visual (speed air/fuel intake ect) Ive asked around and someone said ecm but i have a 84 trans-am (carbed but want to go fi) so would it still be possible to hook it up to a windows mechine and get all the info on a monitor?

ECM=Electronic Computer Module I believe.

As for reading the info on the PC, read up on WinALDL.
It's talked about alot on the web as well as the forum.

Also please let me know if you get it to work on your
car. I too had a 84 Firebird, carberated. I did get data
once, then broke the cable and since then havent been able to read data.

And yes the 84 has the ECM still.
