TPIS level 6 chip

will a TPIS level 6 chip work good on any highly modified motor or would a slight difference in the combination cause problems. if the optimal timing curve for one setup is different than another could this cause knock retard or detonation

heres the two combos
350,CANFIELD ALUM HEADS,MINI RAM INTAKE,
ZZ9 CAM ,1.75 HEADER 10.3 COMPRESSION

355 sportsman2 heads,stealthram,slp 502/510 224/230cam,24lb svo's, 10to1 compression 1 5/8 hooker comps 52mmtb

The only real way to get a chip right for your combo, is burning your own. Anything less and your just settling for OK, and that's being generous.

No way man, go for the TPIS Level 20 chip at least, if not the Level 25. They're not on the price list, you have to ask for them when you call.

i figured i would get the usual response about useing a chip somone else burned...''dont bother, burn your own" well the track is opening up in a few weeks and the stock chip is killing this setup...burning my own chip would probably take at least 6 months to get perfect since ive never done one and just dont have the time, i wanted to try the tpis level 6 cus i could get if for a decent price...but i guess i got nowhere posting this question about using that chip on a slightly different setup

and i havent heard of the level 20 or 25 chip from TPIS...i guess ill give them a call and look into it

NAw .... buddy is being a *** . ANyways .....jsut ask TPIS they will give you some good insight ...... but be prepared for a huge $$$$$$ . Just so you know ...there is no way for a manufacturer to make a chip that will amke your setup run at optimum levels .

but this level 6 thing you seek ....should be way better than stock

good luck ...... and when you get the time ....learn how to do this . It is ecential to tuneing these cars .....no hypercrap , or jet or tpis level 99 will do you any real good.

Selling an aftermarket chip for ANYTHING but towing ( or something mild like that ) is .... a ripoff scam !

I have much to learn myself but .......I will not pay THEM for their genaric crap

If you don't have the time to tune the car, why bother tampering with it?.
Since you've already made you mind up, about things, all that's left is being right about it.

While it might take 6 months for you to get the perfect chip, at least when your done you have perfect instead of something kinda or near close.

offering a slightly different perspective:

all the "chip" has on it (as it pertains to tuning a combo) is fuel and timing stuff.

all the 'stuff' on the chip does the same thing as the following non-computerized components:

carb jetting (primary and secondary)
carb accelerator pump cam
carb accelerator pump squirter
carb enrichment circuits (power valves)
carb PVCR's (power valve channel restrictions)
carb idle mixture screws
carb choke
distributor weights
distributor springs
distributor vacuum advance
etc. etc. etc.

now. if TPIS or SLP or someone on ebay told you that they could sell you a piece of paper with all the proper tuning items listed on it... what jets to use, what accelerator pump cam and squirters, what power valve to use, how to curve the distributor, and every other item on the engine that can be tuned...would you buy it? for hundreds of dollars? that's all you are buying when you buy a chip. a $2.00 hunk of plastic and silicone with someone elses's guesses as to what will work with your setup written in the chip.

even if you buy their chip anyways, go read the tuning articles on the DIY PROM board and at least educate yourself so you understand what the chip does. won't cost ya a penny. once you understand that really, all the chip does, is tune/calibrate all of the items (and more) that i listed above, you'll see that buying a chip is like buying a setup sheet. sure it will run, but how well will be totally hit and miss. you could easily give up 50hp or more just based on a chip not calibrated to your individual setup.
