Holley 950 and O2 sensor location

I am working on my Holley setup, trying to get a base map that is even close. I have settled on roughly the mpi-6 map.

My headers go all the way down and to the outside of the car, big block style, and my o2 sensor is at about where the front door gap is. Is this way too far down the track for the o2 sensor? what will happen if I put it in just one tube instead of after the collector?

I don't get any useful readings out of the sensor at idle, no matter how long I let the car warm up.

You have to run the D950 OPEN loop in idle until about 1200rpm or so, til the O2 sensor gets some heat and becomes active. The sensor is just too far away from a lot of heat at idle. Exhaust cools a bit by the time it reaches the sensor. The manual makes that point a few times.

Go to:

Hdwr Settings, Oxygen Sensor. then set "RPM to ENTER closed loop" to 1200 or so and set "rpm to return to open loop" to 1100 or so. ALWAYS set the OL return at least 100rpm lower than the Enter CL number.

Then, you'll have to tune your now OpenLoop idle by ear/vacuum/etc, but not hard at all. Then you'll be happy.

Cool, thanks. I've read the book about 10 times cover to cover, I guess that's what happens when you wait 6 months to get to the tuning phase
