proms and pinouts?

proms and pinouts?

hi
i looked at a mitchell wiring diagram for a 88 2.8 730 ecm and 91 5.7 730 ecm and the pin outs are different between the two ecms so it is my guess that the prom designates the ecm pinouts is this correct?

Yes, there is some freedom in swapping pins around, and it varies by the code used.
