ECM help!

I have an 87 Firebird with the 2.8. I have been having trouble starting the car when cold for quite some time and recently decided to tackle the problem, a Code 54 with delayed start until oil pressure is built. I have used a troubleshooting chart and narrowed the problem to the ECM, since I have replaced the fuel pump relay already, and the owner showed me the receipt for the new fuel pump, which was replaced last year before I bought the car. I have taken out the damaged sections of wire at the relay and still get the same results in the chart, which points at the ECM as the problem. Does the PROM or the box the PROM is in control the fuel pump? Any other help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

ECM control of the fuel pump is built into the hardware of same. Nothing in the PROM controls the fuel pump.

Thanks a bunch. It still isn't cheap though. I was just hoping that someone hadn't screwed with the chip in some way.

ECM

I had ECM problems with A1 Cardone replacements. The problems went away when I installed a Delphi Unit from Carquest which was previously Pettigrew Autoparts in the Houston, Texas area.

I replaced the AI Cardone unit twice for no SES. The third time it corrupted the PROM data. I had just bought the MemCal, and I copied the data before installing it so I had a backup file to reprogram it with, but it still coded a 54, that's when I found the delphi unit ($93+tax+core.)

To test the Fuel Pump Relay apply fused 12volts to the ALDL's "G" Terminal, if the wiring, relay, and pump are good then you should hear the pump running.
