93 GMC, TBI, Chip Burning, Tuning
TBI ECU is listed as: Service # 16168625 BBMW BBWK330491987, well this was a 4.3 z 1/2 ton pickup, but it's now a 5.7, 350 bored with HYP Federal Mogul H345NP40 pistons, ARP rod bolts resized rods, balanced etc. Comp 212-218, 444 lift cam, transmission 4L60E rear end 3:42s wanting to go to 3.73 later depending on how things go.
I had TBI modify TBI and they put in, Yellow/Brown, 68 Flow Matched injectors and made a chip, but both stock chip, PROM, based of VIN except for 5.7 and their custom chip well just don't seem to cut it for me.
I seen Tunercat, winALDL and I wondered how hard it is to burn a chip and is it possible to get a little more option on cams because, in my opinion, Edelbrock TBI cam etc, just are not enough for what I wanted out of motor, let alone if we go to a 383 next year, depending on if we can learn this and a TBI can use other options when GMC specs are changed. We were going to use Pro Torkers 67 cc with 2.02-1.60 valves, but may be stuck using, for now, 1.94 1.5 SR Pro Heads with Fel Pro 1094 gasket and shaved .020 to up compression some as well to help, I hope keep compression and vaccum up. MAP and TBI seem to not like it if vaccum drops and I am assuming ECM etc thinks motor is under load, bummer. ANY suggestions on how to do this and where to start? Please?:hail:
Do you need a scanner or other tools as I just use a paper clip to pull codes when I had to trace code 42, bummer was a short in EST, boy what a pain that was. I have access to computers though and figured after it cost so much for custom chips and 50 dollars there after to change chip they did wrong, well I need to learn or go to a Holley. CFM on TBI is suppose to be around 590 and T.C. claimed Injector spacer would help and selling TBI Edelbrock Manifold 3701, looking at options or single plane.
