dfi guys help!
i posted about a week ago that i couldn't get me motor to run cool,i thought i found the poblem but i was wrong(wrong intake gaskets)anyway the motor still runs hot i shut if off@ 210deg.it gets that hot in about 5 minutes.let me know if i set the timing right on this(acell dfi gen6 box)first i set all the ignition map cells to 6 deg(btdc) then i started the motor and in the box under the timing map it reads 13 deg, that 13 deg is what i set the timing tab to.now i did this at 1500rpm and about 1000 rpm with the est connector still connected, did i do this correct?also my temp guage(autometer)reads 210 and the ecu reads 194 from the coolant temp sensor.would a bad coolant temp sensor make it run hot?i'm about 95% sure that the cooant system is all good, termostat open,water pump is pumping,enough air going through the rad.i am getting real disgusted with this so i really hope someone can point me in he right direction.by the way the motor is a 383 with afr heads, acell intake base, slp runners,58mm tb,comp cams camshaft,30lb injectors.my fuel pressure is abot 43psi,is that not enough?any help would be appreciated......

With the gauge reading 210 and the DFI reporting 194 I would work on verifing the true engine coolant temperature. If there are headers on this engine do they glow red at all? That would be a sure sign that something is wrong.
It also doesn't sound like the ignition timing is operating correctly. Here is a blurb from the Gen 6 Chevy manual for use of a CCC distributor (http://mrgasket.com/pdf/ChevyLT1.pdf):

It also doesn't sound like the ignition timing is operating correctly. Here is a blurb from the Gen 6 Chevy manual for use of a CCC distributor (http://mrgasket.com/pdf/ChevyLT1.pdf):

In order to set the initial timing, the ignition bypass connectors (white-one pin connector), incorporated into the HEI leg of the main wiring harness, must be disconnected. With the engine running hot at 800 RPM, manually adjust the distributor to 6 degrees BTDC. Once adjusted, reconnect the ignition bypass line. As soon as you connect the bypass line the timing will then be controlled by the ECM. The spark curve is preprogrammed into the ECM from ACCEL/DFI. It has as initial timing of 20 degrees BTDC and a total timing of 34 degrees BTDC in by 3000 RPM. The timing curves, as well as all other tables in the ECM, can be adjusted to better suit your engines requirements using ACCEL/DFI’s calibration software CALMAP.

should i set all the timing cells to 6deg and then disconnect the est connector and set the distributor to 6 deg?or should i leave the timing matrix alone and set the distributor that way?

There's a book by Ray Bocia (sp), about the Gen VI EFI by HP Books. Often they're available on ebay, and I think Jegs has it. I have a copy and was trying to find it to find the procedure, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Even looked in the frige.....
