megasquirt vs GM 730

For a race car that sees some daily driving and a few road trips, which EFI controller is better... for a semi-daily driver?

What about for a trailered car that runs 9's (or faster), a v8 with a big turbo?

For 9's?.
Means Peak and hold injectors, and that nixes a 730.

For a 9 sec Turbo car?, there's better then the MS.

9's ain't about pinching pennies, that's serious go fast, IMO.

But a 749 with some reworked source code would handle both of the above.

Untill I can start my repair shop it will be about pinching pennies. My '82 Z has been picked as the drag car. I want to tow it with my formula to the track. It's already stripped bare. I have over 100 hours on the undercarrage. Anyways, I'm going to do things cheap to start with. There is guys running 10's on hardly any money. So 9's or better shouldn't be over 10k, I think. Not to mention my car will weigh under 3000lbs, easy. There will be no dash or wiring from the factory. Thinking about making a sheetmetal hatch. I know it'll have EFI. Just trying to map out the best and cheapest controller. The megasqirt sounds cool. Not sure for my app though. Guess it'll take low impedence injectors, huh?

This will not be a street car

There are some guys that stumble into cars the just happen to run well on a budget. But, there's a thousand guys to every one of those that wind up spending serious $$ to get there. And there is a difference between just getting into the 9's vs being able to run in the 9s. You can drop a BBC engine, and spray it into the 9's, but don't expect the first couple engines to last long. There are learning curves envolved for every step in going fast. Look at how much effort guys put into initially running 12s. It's not to bad once your there, but the first pass there is a hurdle, for most folks.

And there is this guy Murphy that likes to help in projects like that.

I can get any engine from a local boneyard for $99. Figure I can roast a couple of them learning. I know what you mean though.
