i have an 85 trans am with TPI

I ditched the 305 and dropped a 350 in and want to run the TPI..what do i need to do to the chip?


The 350 has flattop Pistons, double roller timing chain, mild cam, heddman hedders, 24 lb. injectors.

should i get a ecm from an 85 vette w/ 350 TPI or a 85 irock camaro with 350 TPI?

What should i do to get this thing running?

 

There wasn't an f-body 350 TPI in '85, so that is out. A PROM from a '85 Vette may work. Depends whether an '85 Vette has VATS, if so then that is a problem.

In '86 the ECM was changed to a '165 (through '89), the '85 ECM is a one year only model.

The other possibility is to upgrade to the '165 ECM and run a newer 350 TPI calibration. Davis's site has information on how to do this.

Then once upgraded can get into doing some tuning on your own (DIY PROM), as the engine & injectors are not stock.

How will i know if the vette chip has VATS?

I plan on buying an 85 vette prom chip, A knock sensor, and an ESC module...
Is this all i need?

 

Just want to help out and let you know that the I did the same thing, there is nothing that has to changed for the 350 to run just adjustments to make it run stonger. I ran mine on the stock chip. Just make sure you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to compensate for the fuel demand and lose all the restrictors for the air filters.
