First DataMaster Log

I've gathered my first data file with DataMaster. I'm still getting data errors, but it's much better than before, at least the data is readable now. I shortened up the serial cable as much as I could and grounded one end of the cable shield. I also eliminated a ground loop, previously I was bringing power and ground to my MAX232 board from the lighter socket and had a ground in the ALDL socket. Now I'm bringing power in through the ALDL socket and eliminated the 2nd ground wire. None of this made much difference, I was still getting MANY data errors while trying to log data. Finally, I tried using the wall outlet to power my laptop and the data errors went away. Kind of tough gathering much data this way though, I only have 100' of extension cord :-) . There was apparently electrical noise coming into my laptop through the AC inverter and the laptop's brick power supply, mucking up the data. I bought a new battery (original was completely dead, hence the AC inverter) and now most of the errors are gone.

I'm new at this data interpretation stuff, but I think I see a couple of things right away. It looks like the injectors are near maxed out. Also, I have a few anomalies in the spark advance that seem to coincide with a brief dip in the MAP. I'm not sure what's going on there. Anyone want to take a look and give some feedback? The file is at http://home.comcast.net/~p-928/928test9.uni (right click the link and save file), and is a run through the first 3 gears in my Porsche 928 Vortech/749. Any comments would be appreciated.

Bill, can you convert the log into a comma separated format (CSV)? Without Datamaster we/I can't read the log file.

Thanks,

RBob.

Hmmm, I thought DataMaster was commonly used here. I'll see about converting it to CSV. You can download DM here for free if you'd like: http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DM_Software.htm

It's actually pretty good. My data came from the xTT (Syclone, Typhoon & T-Truck) version.

Hey, I *can* do CSV! The file can be found at http://home.comcast.net/~p-928/928test9.csv

Looks PDQ. 0-60 in 4.6sec, 0-90 in 10.5 sec. Nice.

Manifold temperature sure does climb too. Graphing the RPM and MPH (Excel) is enlightening.

RBob.

I would look at:

-TPS Voltage should be 4V or more at WOT and .54V at idle

-Injector DC is too high
