changing from a 86 MAF to a ?

I have a 86 TA with the MAF
My problem is that I thought I had a leaky cold start injector so I removed it and pluged the hole.
It didn't solve the problem but the leaking injector has been fixed.
In the mean time I managed to loose the cold start pieces.
And now the car is really hard to start when cold.

So my question is can I convert my ecm to one that does not use the cold start injector?

Thanks

They stopped using the cold start injector in '89. That year still uses the same ECM as your current one. However, that year also has VATS.

What can be done is to upgrade to the '89 MAF code (mask $6E) and re-burn the PROM to eliminate VATS.

Or you can change to the SD '730 ECM which was used from '90 to '92. This requires some re-pinning of the harness and again a re-burn to eliminate VATS.

RBob.

This may be silly but what are VATS?

Vechicle Anti Theft System (VATS) It use a resistor Plug in a key sent through some type of control Box to alow the car to know it is the correct key not some one trying to hot wire it.

The easist solution would be what RBob suggested,

upgrade to the '89 MAF code (mask $6E) and re-burn the PROM to eliminate VATS
