Proper PROM matching?
Proper PROM matching?
OK. I've got my '87 Vette engine in my '88 IROC. Now I need a PROM for it, but I'm unsure which factory PROM to use. The car originally came with the 5.7 and 3.27 gears (PROM AKXX), when I got it, the owner swapped a 2.77 into it (which paired with ABYA).
So, to get to the meat of it: Is there a difference in engine parameters between AKXX and ABYA? I mean, I'm sure there's transmission variables, but is anything fuel related different? How?
And finally, will running a F-body PROM reduce the power of the '87 Vette engine? How much "hotter" was the Vette ECU?
Thanks,

Not sure which year Vette started with the aluminum heads. If the engine you have is iron headed then just use the f-body MEMCAL that matches your cars drivetrain.
If the engine is aluminum headed then the timing tables will be very much different. But a Vette MEMCAL won't run properly in an f-body.
