727 ECM run a TBI

Can the Corvette 727 ECM run a TBI setup? I would have to re-pin the harness for the different plugs, but the sensors and function are almost the same. Any ideas?

No, you'll eventually smoke the injector drivers. All the OBDI series of sensors are the same, functionally.

What do you mean by drivers? When I hear drivers, I'm thinking program. I do realize that I will have to get a custom chip, but what am I missing? Thanks.

He's talking about the electronic component in the ECM that switches the injectors on and off. Its not designed to handle the load of TBI injectors and will fail.

The '727 ECM will run a single TBI injector, that's it. So unless you have a 4-cylinder Iron Duke in your 3rd gen that you want to convert to a 1bbl TBI, won't work.

What I am doing is running the GM 2.8 V6 in dune buggies instead of the aircooled VW engines. Even bone stock they are twice as powerfull and 4 times more reliable. You can get em used out of Citations and Celebrities for $150.00 a pop. The TBI is simple and reilable as well, but I have had problems keeping the ECM functioning in an open chassis. The 727 would have been perfect, but oh well. It seems like what ever enclosure I built is too tight and can't breath(burns up), or breathes too good and condinsation gets it. Any ideas?

Just had another thought. Will the 727 run the MPFI like on the 3.1 V6 that came in some 3rd gens?

Yes. Matter of fact, that was a stock combination from GM around 1990 or so. (3.1L FWD apps)
