ECM woes

Hello everyone!
Have I got a question for you! I bought the Moates.net G2 adapter for eproms and had a slight problem, maybe worse, the Check engine light came on and that's when it dawned on me, that I must have left a small trace of solder between to legs of the dip socket, sure enough I did, I fixed that and tried the ECM again, no "SES" light, but the engine idles at 1500 RPM's now and when I short the two terminals of the "ALDL" (Key on,engine off) the "SES" light doesn't flash code 12 or any codes for that matter, how can I determine if I burned up my ecm? Lucky for me, I used an extra ECM, I didn't want to take my car down while I am driving it while I do the computer mods, so, worst case, I still have another ECM I can modify (safely this time) Guess I will buy a better soldering Iron before I attempt it again.....I'd like to keep my modified ECM, but if it's Dead.....got to move on....... Thanks in advance!!!
