305 computer starving 350!

I've searched and could really find any answers to my question. First of all, I've swapped from a 305 to a 350. Has a t-5 and the 305 computer. The problem is that the motor doesn't really pull past 4 grand. Considering a 350 will pull in as much air at about 4000 as a 305 will at say 6000, does the computer not have enough of a fuel delivery table to respond to anything over 4000rpms? It just flat dies at 4000. Thanks for your help.

If you didnt change the memcal to a 350 this might explain your problem.

You need to buy a 350 memcal(chip) and install it in your computer. You should be able to get it at any GM dealer. As for the stuff you didn't talk about. You need a 350 knock sensor and 22lb/hr injectors instead of the 19's that came stock on your 305. If the motor is not stock then you better look at moates website an do some learning and ordering.

It's not the computer's fuel delivery table that's hindering high RPM performance.... but the stock TPI's intake, plenum and runners.

Listen to what they told you above, as you need to upgrade you're injectors and chip (well, not so much you're chip if you're running MAF, just bump up you're fuel pressure with the replacement injectors)... but remember, even with you're 350 running right, don't expect it to pull all the way to 6000RPM. It'd be like Michael Johnson running down the track as fast as he could, while breathing through a straw.

Flatlining

I figured it might be the computer because the car basically flatlines at 4000 rpms. By flatlines, I mean I can run faster if I shift at 4000. I have some ported 081 heads that will be going on shortly. I'm hoping these will help. Does the intake really hinder performance that much?

They'll help a little, but remember, even with better heads, the stock intake and plenum will still hold you back. Stock L98's & LB9's make terrific torque down low, but they fall flat on their face once past 4000RPM.

Yes. Read some of the testimonials from people who swapped to either the LT1, HSR, Miniram and Super-Ram intakes. The very first thing they notice is that the engine now pulls all the way to 6000RPM. Just from the intake swap alone.
