i cant find any info on this swap. just wondering if the info im looking for is out there. I found some things saying that because of vats it wont work. to options burning chip without vats or change the ingnition to one with vats, but no info on the swap. so for any info you can give thanks

 

All three ECMs are pin compatable. As you know the '8746 won't work unless a VATs-less chip is burned. The '747 will plug in and operate and doesn't use VATs. The '8063 is a one-year, one-model ECM that is hard to find and isn't well known (internally for tuning purposes).

Both the '8746 and '7747 are more popular, easier to find, and are better known. They both have their pluses and minuses. The '8746 code being geared toward a car, with the '747 code being geared toward a heavier truck.

Ok from what i have read is the 8063 uses the slower 160 baud for data. Do the '8746 or the '747 use 8192 for data retrieval?
im building my aldl cable. The 2 transister model for the time being had the components already. Will this work or should i buy the max232? looking for a laptop to start tuning.

Currently, with the exception of a Lockers setup, all three use 160 baud ALDL. A simple single transistor cable is all that is required. A 2 transistor will also work.
