MAF burnoff relay
i have done a search on this site and every other site i could find where is the MAF burnoff relay on a 1985 camaro? and what are the part numbers for it and the MAF power relay? I have replaced the ECU (cause it was fried), the MAF (someone had a FWD one in there) and i have started geting a code 34 from both ECUs any ideas? i was getting the same reading on both MAFs
ps i dont know why but any time i ask a question all a get is the black dot and like 1 or 2 replys and they always seem to be i dunno. sorry for ranting but i have been asking this same question on here with diferent wording each time for 2 days now.

Is code 34 the "MAF Voltage Signal Low" code? If so, I got this code when I disconnected the hose that goes from the throttle body to the passenger side valve cover.

I understand how you feel, I'm to the point that if I can't figure it out myself no one else is gonna be able to help. I see it time after time, easy question gets 10 people saying the say thing, hard question gets nothing.
Look for the relay on the firewall between the brake booster and the fender, I think thats where it is but there are more than one.
My car came with tbi so mine didn't have a maf untill I converted and made a wire harness. That was before I knew anything about Thirdgen.org Chevythunder.com is where I got all my info from. I hope this helps.

I keep getting codes 33 and 34. Nobody seems to be able to tell me what's going on with mine. If you are able to fix the problem let me know and I'll do the same. I left my post under engine swaps. "5.0 to 5.7"

Not sure about the 2.8, but since the 1985 TPI v8's don't use relays, I don't think yours will either. There is burnoff and maf module that is attatched to the ECM.

yeah '85s are a little differnt then the rest. between the bigger cam, ecm functins, cooling fan and countless other things it gets to be a pain in the rear sometimes.
Between this relay issue and the cooling fan I don't know which is worse. I had a cooling fan problem for the longest time and finally posted it up. Must have had more than a good hand full of people trying to tell me that it was the fan switch on the right side of the engine. No such thing guys. Soley controlled by the emgine temp ensor to the ECM.

well mine does have a relay cause i went to the dealer and they gave me a diagram showing my burnoff relay to be in that spot between the fender and brake booster. it is the one that is at an angle on the backside of the mounting bracket and the power relay is down by the radiator. it will switch with the fuel pump relay. i switched both and the fuel pump still worked so that is ok and i have checke the wiring and it is ok. i have checked the intake for any leaks it might draw extra air besides from the maf and guess what? there is none i have it all seald up perfect and the wireing is all good and the relays are good and this is the second Brand new MAF sensor i have installed and i still get this code. oh and i replaced the ECU with a new one as well. i unpluged the battery any time i have touched the car so that souldnt be the problem i dont know what to think now.
oh and todd i dont know how that is possible cause it goes 33 MAF high/ 34 MAF low so that should not be possible.

i know it sounds stupid but i found out the cause of my MAF codes. i tested the relays with the voltmeters and such to see if it was working and that test showed they were. Well i was still getting the code 34 so i got ticked and said screwit and ripped open the shell on the power relay and guess what i find? half of the connections were barely solderd. so i had my dad solder them securely and what do ya know NO CODE. he says he thinks it was that when we were testing the relay with the tester there was no vibration from the engine and when i would plug it in and start the car the crappy connections ere viberating loose and not giveing the MAF the proper power.
Just some food for thought mabe that is what i causeing some of your problems as well? i just know that that is what worked for me so mabe it will help others as well
well im off to bed. wow its 12:23 and ive got to work tomorrow dang.
oh and if ya have not figured out the fan problemand if your talking about it staying on all the time open the case on the ECM and look and see if the there is a chip is burned mine did it twice with two different ECM's before i ripped out my AC.

Re: MAF burnoff relay
85 should have a burn off module that piggybacks the computer. Its expensive and hard to find.
