Do I need to swap everything?
well heres the deal, my car was a 305 TPI, now its a 350 TPI vette engine. I bought it already swapped, and there was definately some afro engineering going on in the engine bay. But the main concern was that it had a 305 computer and harness in there. Now I did a bunch of mods, HSR, cam, injectors, etc etc. (check sig), and she really runs like sh*t now. keep in mind, it never ran that good to begin with. It was streetable, but still a little rough.
So to solve this problem, i took it into our mechanic to see what he could do, turns out he can't just swap in a new computer, because the wiring harness won't match up. So what do i do? do i have to swap over a 350 computer and 350 harness and go from there with the tuning? I'm planning on getting it dyno tuned, is it possible for them to redo everything without swapping everything over?

As a start you will need a 350 chip for your ecm.
For the money spent on a custom chip.
You can buy the hardware needed to do your own custom chip.
In the end, you doing the work will produce a better result than any custom chip.
Start up top onthe DIY Prom board.

well i already spent the money on a custom chip. shows how far that got me
i have thought about getting into custom prom tuning, but i hardly have the time nor the resources to get it done with me being up at college and stuff. But when i built this car, i desided to go all out, and moded everything i'll ever mod as far as this car goes. So all i need is to get the computer tweaked so its runnng good, then i'll never have to touch it again, because the engine or anything will never be touched again. so I just wanna get it done, and be done with it..
right now I have the custom chip in there. Should I start by taking that out and putting a stock 350 chip in there or what?

Buy the DIY tuning hardware and sell the chip after you read it. That way you recoupe most if not all the money for your chip and put it into the hardware. Not that the custom chip will have much of anything special on it. But it will teach you something by taking a look at what they "did".
You need to make sure that everything is working correctly first. Make sure your wiring is correct. There shouldn't be that many changes from an 86 to an 89. And the computers were the same.....
As long as your MAF is working then you can keep your current setup.
You need to data log and research how to read what the log is telling you. Then ask specific questions and mod your chip accordingly. Or spend the money on an aftermarket computer
and learn how to tune it for 4x the price.
