Flashing ECM

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone could give me thorough instructions on how to "flash" my ECM using the hairpin trick. I have heard of this done, but have never done it and I'm not very familiar with the process. The car is an 87 Z28 305 TPI. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is used to have the SES light flash out any stored malfunction codes. Simply short terminals A & B together on the ALDL conenctor and turn the ignition key on (don't start the engine).

The SES will now flash out the codes. Code 12 is normal as the engine isn't running.

RBob.
