ECU help for my S-10

I have a 87 2.8 5-speed 4/4 s-10 with the 1227429 ECU, i have been trying to use WinALDL with no luck. It seems it will not work with this code. Everthing i have read says i can use a 1227747 from a 4.3 and just swap my chip set into it. Is this true? What year body style will have the 1227747 in it. Is this the best ECU to use for tuning? I have been resurching this for some time and just not finding good info on the S-10 boards.

I dont belive it works that way. I think you can only swap chips from one 7747 to another. You should be able to use WinALDL with your truck. Is your interface known to be good

I have built 2 cables neither work on my truck. I have been told the computer in the 87 2.8 was very hard to get the ALDL to work and cant be reprogramed.

I have to admit I've never tried to read a 2.8TBI. I've only worked 2.8MPI. WinALDL worked perfect for my buddies 87 2.8 firebird and his 89 4.3 Astro
