WON'T STOP PINGING

My '89 305 TBI auto 160,000 miles (smokes a little on start up but never needs more oil) won't stop pinging--even with premium gas, I can still hear it a little. Timing is set correctly (0 degrees), ignition module was replaced.

A year ago I was getting a code 32. New EGR valve and solenoid made no difference. When I replaced the ignition module, that stopped. When i replaced the cat this weekend, I got it again for the first time in 6 months. Under the same conditions too--driving @ 10 minutes at 60 mph on the highway. I'm thinking the ECM may be screwed.

Could this be an ESC system problem? I only ask because if I was to replace the knock sensor and the ESC module, it would cost about as much as getting a new ECM. I'm a student and I have no money---just want this hot car (looks like it's brand new--bright red w/red wheels and dark tinted windows to be ok and keep working for me. Gets twice the fuel economy my 80 Z28 does--but that car never had a single problem--cant sell it or drive it

Thanks for your help
