Can I Bench Test 02 Sensor?

Does anyone know of a way to bench test a one wire 02 sensor?

get a digital volt meter. (high impedance) If I'm not mistaken you will probably have a 1 wire sensor, if so connect the negative lead from the meter to the metal shell, and the positive lead to the connector wire. Take a propane torch, and heat the sensor up; you should be above 650mV or so, and it should vary when you move the tip back and forth.

Excellent! That's what I was looking for. Buying a new o2 sensor every time it's suspect to being faulty didn't seem too appealing, so I'm glad to see there's a way to test them. Thank You!

Honestly...I would replace it if you seem to be having bad mileage and/or codes.

The reason is that you can't bench test it for cross counts to see how many you are getting in a second. Also, I would only buy Delco sensors...do a search to see why the others suck.

Good luck.
