May be a stupid ECM question

I tried the search function and couldn't find any description on how to remove the ECM.

My car was originally a 305 TPI and the previous owner installed a 350 TPI. The engine was running rough so I tried to check to see if there were any trouble codes stored in the computer. When I ground the diagnostic terminals the fan comes on but no check engine light. That was about the same time I noticed that the light never comes on, even when turning the key to the on position and my fan is always on whenever the key is on. So I want to check the ECM and PROM to be sure that everything is plugged in and is the proper equipment for the engine. I have a general idea where the ECM is located but I don't know how to get it out.

It's in the passenger side under the dash (where the fuse box is on the driver's side, only on the passenger side instead). I almost took it out once just to look at it, but got bored and never got around to it. Should be pretty simple, I think it just drops right out.

Yeah, it's easy to take out... I did it when I took out my dash..

Also, when you put your ECM back into your car... it may have a hole in the frame up top where the point at the top of the ECM needs to fit into. When I took out the dash, I was like "what fits here??" and it was the top point of the ecm ^_^
