Please help - ECM - Eprom Trouble
Please help - ECM - Eprom Trouble
I'm having trouble with my Trans Am.
It's a 305 TPI - HSR set up using the stock 19Lb injectors and a MAF.
The original problem was it would stall if idling for a while only at full operating temp. This problem still exists however I now have a mush greater one to deal with.
After a day of trying to located this fault I decided to try some of the new Chips I had made.
I have one of those Adaptor things so I just change the little EPROM chip.
I also installed one of those units that makes installing them easer.
During changing chips I happen to install that block thing the EPROM's plug in to on with the first set of pins off set. The car ran bad and the SES light came on. I quickly powered down, removed it and re-installed dit correctly to now have it running really bad all the time!
There are no trouble codes present but it seems to be running on what I would describe a default setting. It wont start with out throttle and wont idle at all. I have also tried several other chips they all perform the same.
IS it possible I have damaged the ECM? Or the MEMCAL?
( I found this info on this site) The CALPAK contains the limp mode resistors. These resistors are used to calibrate the redundent fuel device (RFD). This allows the engine to still run when the main ECM processing system fails. ( What would be the signs of this?)
I would be so thank full for any help you can offer.
Francis.

Not sure what you plugged in a row of pins off, but if it was the ECM connector you may have bent some pins over.
