727-D11 neutral safety switch N.O. or N.C.?

Pin D11 on the 727 is for the neutral safety switch. What state indicates that the vehicle is in neutral or park, Open or closed? The switch just goes to ground... but I don't know what the ECM is looking for in order to actually start the vehicle.

Thanks, Charles

The switch is not a safety switch. It only allows the ECM to know whether the trans is in park/neutral or drive.

Drive is open
Park/neutral is to ground

There is a separate switch for the park/neutral no-crank safety feature.

So is the D11 pin for the IAC, to add a couple counts when put in drive?

Is the ECM involved in any way in the neutral safety for starting the motor while in drive. I was thinking there may be some code (programming) in there somewhere that would not turn on the spark signals if D11, or something else, was not in the proper state...??

Thee ECM takes no control over whether the engine is cranked/started in drive or park/neutral. That function is relegated to a separate switch.
