Try to load software into my dell laptop W/XP and I get this message.

What do I do?

 

ok, got it to work.

Next question is what do i use to communicate with the ECM. I don't have a comm port on my laptop. Only usb ports.

 

Will need to get a serial to USB adaptor cable.

Would a radioshack have that kind of cable?

 

I got one of those cables off ebay everywhere else seem to sell out of them as soon as they get them. Heres a link:

I had just bought a new laptop and used that cable but for some reason the newer laptop with XP and that Pro software wouldn't find the 950 PC. So I bought a old school laptop for $50 on ebay and it worked instantly with no problems at all. That laptop only has 2G hard drive and its more than enough for the software and thats all I use it for so I don't have to use my newer laptop for my car.

lilbowilson- Thanks for all that valuable information. New style laptops W/XP won't work with the 950 pro???

 

For some reason the newer laptop took longer to load the software just like yours did and when I used the USB/BUS cable it still would not read the 950 ECU. Once I got that older laptop that ran on windows 98 the software loaded instantly and uploaded the program to the 950 with no problem. Now I just have to figure out how to adjust my programs.

Damn you got a killer setup there! When you get yours going give me some pointers on how to tune with the 950 OK!
