Hey all.... I just bought a hypertech chip off ebay... but Im thinking its the wrong one.... Its a small chip and I think I need a big one.... The part number for the chip is; 122372
I have a 91 Trans Am 5 speed 305 TPI

I have the big blue thing in my computer... the chip that I got is a PROM chip.

 

Another rip off or wrong part from ebay. This happens so often on this and other boards. I do not understand why people buy critical parts off of ebay.
You never know what you're getting or if it works!

What recourse do you have on ebay?

 

You have a mem-cal in your ECM. The prom you recieved, is in the memcal. You will have to remove, and install the new one in place of the old. (requires soldering). That is of course, it IS the correct one, for your application. How many little legs on the prom? Should be 28. When its all said and done, you will be no better off with the new prom anyway.
