165 conversion question

Probably a dumb question, but if I convert my car to a 1227165 pcm, should I worry that it has no "chip" in it right now, since I will be getting a mailorder chip for the car's new combo anyway?

The memcal (what you are calling the chip) plugs can be installed in the ECM at anytime. Of course, you car won't work until a memcal is installed the ECM.
