If anyone does not know I totaled my once beautiful 10 second 87 trans am - decided to pick up a 94 v6 firebird as a trans plant car for my 406/t56 combo that was converted from 265 - 7730 ecm - probably a backward swap - but still a good engine..
Anyway just pulled harness from trans-am, noticed there are (3) connectors split off of ecm harness to under dash - one connector is a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,
other side is j,k,l(not used),m,n,p,r. the a small 6 pin that uses A,C,D,..
mY Question is, are any of these wires needed? if so which ones..
Basically what pins must I ground, power, ign power to energize this thing in the car..
Will also post on engine swap board..
Thanks for any help..

Sorry to hear about the'87. I hadn't heard.
For the wiring, in general a black with white stripe is ground, orange is always hot (+12 battery), and pink (may be striped) is ignition switched. The wires in the connectors will also be for items such as the SES light, ALDL lines, VSS pulses for the cluster and cruise, vats, and so on.
May need to buzz out the wires to see where they go in the harness. Then decide whether they are needed or not.
RBob.

So they all go to the ECM anyway - should be easy enough to figure out..
Thanks,
