GM 8 PIN MODULE. BAD?

I recently had a short to a ground strap in my power wire to the msd, and coil batt power. It burnt up the dfi gen 7 harnes right to the computer. I repaired the harness and checked for shorts to the other wires. everything checked out ok. when i conect the harness back to the ignition module in the distributor (small cao dist) i get a short betwean the groun wire that toasted and both neg and positive to the module. Does anyone know how to test a gm 8 pin ignition module, without the ablitly to crank the car over. Any sugestions for other test would be great.

You can got to advance or vatozone and get it tested. You will probally have to do it your self because most of the time the people that work there dont even know what an ignition module is, let alone know how to test it. If it is shorted that bad the tester will tell you.

Yeah thats not too bad. The wells modules they sell arent that great but with a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong. Did that fix your problem?

Good luck with it. I had the same thing happen to me Iroc 2 weeks ago. But it washed the bottom end of my motor. So now Im going carbed for a while till I can get the funds for a new harness and a HSR setup.

Man that sux. Well i got all the fuel out, put a new set of plugs in. Cranked it over with the computer still disconected, and the thing fired up, weird enough, but was gald to see the engine itself was ok. Conected the pcm and it fired right over and ran beautifull. Im so glad that the dfi module held up to the herness burning right up to it.
