pulses per mile fault?????
ok I just got my car started (95 LT1 in a 87 firebird) since I had it bored to a 12.5:1 compression 383. I also sent my computer out to PCMforless to get reconfiguered for the compression and added cubic inches. Now I am seeing code 97 4K pulses per mile fault? I have replaced the VSS sensor and still the code shows up. Other then the added engine changes I put in a different ignition box, Malory hifire to control the nitrous and rebuilt the tranny. Is the ignition causing this code? Is it in the computer? tranny? I have races this saterday what could happen if I run with this code?
Any Ideas?
----------
code reads on computer: 97 4K pulses per mile fault (QDM)
95 LT1 and 4l60e
in a 87 firebird

I also have a 3300 Edge racing stall converter that I know is above the stall wall, but it worked greast with last years tune? Could PCmforless have change somthing this year?
This one has me stumped!

Ok I checked the reference voltage going to the VSS and it is 5 volts, right where it should be.
Any Ideas?
When I rebuilt the tranny I had the output shaft cryoed, could this effect the vss?

Re: pulses per mile fault?????
It's possible that the freezing could have changed the magnetic properties but....
You really need a scantool to see what your VSS is reading. If you happen to have cruise installed and working try turning it on as the cruise and speedometer both run off the VSS but through the ECM (depends on year)

I have a scan tool what shoult the VSS read? I do not have a speedo hooked up, the 4l60e is electronic and the car has a mechanical speedo, I bought the cable x but have not hooked it up yet. And I do not have cruze control.
At the track this weekend I was bouncing off the rev limiter at 5000rpm? could this have to do with code 97 as well or is the computer program messed up?
