where is my ecu located?
have a 87 trans am gta, took the panel off under the passengerside and saw nothing but the heater box? would it be on the driverside? or somewhere else?

Should be on the passenger side.. Remove the bottom panel which does protect the heater box.. Then look up under the dash towards the speakers. Should be bolted in approx a 1 1/2 inch by 5 inch slot. Depending on your car S/D or Maf your ECM either a 1227730 or 1227165 will have either 2 or 3 plugs with lots of wires plugged in.

i found it thanks, i was expecting it to be right there when you pop the cover, but i see they have it hidden pretty good...

oh also forgot one thing, im relacing my ecu with a 16198259 with an upgraded chip.....anything i should make sure i do when i switch it out, or is it as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging this one in?
