Which ECM?
Which ECM?
So, I plan on doing a TBI to SD TPI swap in my 88 IROCZ, as well as a 700R4 to T-5 swap at the same time (I'm pulling out the engine/transmission out to paint the engine bay). I know I can use the V6 ECM and TPI Prom with a modified TBI harness, but was wondering where does the Transmission swap come into play? Do I need to get a standard transmission V6 ECM or reprogram a TPI prom to make the setup work correctly?
Which ECM (the 730 or 746) would work best?
Also, the re-pinning of the Harness is a bit confusing. In anesthes' thread on re-pinning, steps 4-8 are not posted, making things more difficult. How exactly is re-pinning accomplished?
I've researched this forum, and nothing on the topic of tranny swaps come into play with the TBI-TPI swap, so I somewhat suspect any ECM would work with a new prom.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys!

Re: Which ECM?
There is greater support base of files etc for using the 730.
You must use a V8 memcal on a V8.
Trans issues will be the VSS speed sensor and lockout solenoid.
Both have been covered, just do a quick search for them.
Repinning makes much more sense when you look at schematics of the before and after.
then you know what you are unconnecting and what you will be re-connecting. Doing a blind move this to there is asking for a major headache.
Moving the actual wires to a different spot within the connectors is what is meant by "repinning".
