950pcm troubles....

about a month ago my coil wire burned in half... whatever. i replace it and nothing. my car still wont start. so i kept playing around. i had spark but it seemed fuel wasnt gettin in. so i put a few gallons in the tank and squirt a lil in the TB. Still nothing. So i plugged my labtop up to the pcm. retreived data and nothing is showing up in any of the tables. all of the values are reading 0. i tried reloading tunes into it and still nothing. it shows my pcm is getting power but i dont know why nothing is reading or sending. someone point me in the next step to take with this. thanks.

Re: 950pcm troubles....

Is this the Holley 950 Commander? If so, I would venture a guess that the voltage that took out your coil wire fried the 950 also.

Re: 950pcm troubles....

check the fuse in the 950 wiring harness. mine got caked with corrosion and did the same thing (except the coil wire burning). After cleaning it out, all was back to normal.

it showed getting power? mine is indicating power is getting to it. just not reading anything.

If you hook your laptop to it and crank the engine, can you see rpm, tps reading and other feedback? If not, it is dead.

Re: 950pcm troubles....

Mine was getting power, just not enough to send proper info through the communication cable or to fire the injectors, though it was getting spark. took me about a week to figure it out... I was taking my ecm and harness out to send it back to holley when I found the dirty fuse!

Re: 950pcm troubles....

You can buy just the module but I wouldn't replace it till you find out where the spike came from. It also may have damaged sensors. Here is the Summit link for what you need;

Re: 950pcm troubles....

I routed the 950 harness next to the factory harness in front of the passenge side door and the fuse ended up inside the passenger front fender. I had to pop the inner fender liner out to get to it to check it.

Re: 950pcm troubles....

ive checked power and grounds to the ecu and a few other places. so i can almost rule that out. does anyone know if there is program that will diagnose the ecu and see if really is dead? im gona call holley tmr and see what they can do for me. a theory me and my tuning/wiring guy had was that when the coil wire burn it may have arced into a connector near it and sent the voltage right to my computer. I only have limited funds to fix this so buying a new 950 is probably out. If it comes to that i may rewire pigtails for a tpi computer and have it tuned that way or pull the harness and the HSR and go carb and not have to deal with it. I hate my situation right now.
