I am not sure of the question. Are you trying to use the TPS from a LT1 or LT4 with the '7730 ECM? If so, I don't see any reason it shouldn't work. A TPS is a variable resistor. Just need to pin it correctly, otherwise the ECM could think the throttle is closing when it is really opening.

Hi RBob, Yes i am finishing up my '92 trans am convertible AFR heads lingenfelter super ram, etc. and i have an arizona speed throttle body 54mm i bought on ebay the guy listed it as 85-88 which is just a diff throttle linkage and fixed position TPS on some years, but it is actually for a LT1. its brand new and in my opinion the best throttle body for these cars so i hate to give it up. i ordered a pigtail for the lt1 the 3 wires are the same color so i figured it would work but i didnt want to troublshoot a problem i caused! Thanks very much for the response i have posted on this board 7 other times and never got a reply. thanks again, bobby.

FWIW, I'm using an LS1 throttle body/TPS with the 7730 and it works great.

I cranked up the motor for the first time the other day, sounds great ,but has a high idle 2,000 rpm and it is super rich. it isnt throwing any codes yet though. i suspect a vacuum leak may be contributing to the high idle (theres alot of gaskets on a superram!)and i had it powdercoated, but i dont understand the rich condition, it is a 355 w/ scat internals the new AFR 180 eliminator heads 219/219 560" 560" lift lingenfelter cam on a 112 centerline it has a set of 24lb ford blue tops. the gut that burned the chip (harris tbi tpi performance) felt the 24 injectors might be a little small. i havent checked the fuel pressure yet (the regulator is stock) any way i was checking out your hardware there Rbob and will be getting that from you real soon, im not stupid im just computer stupid, ive had a ton of tuned port cars, but always go to carbs for power upgrades, this time im staying with the FI i know there is a whole diff learning curve involved.
oh yea i picked up the TKO500 trans today so hopefully ill be test and tuning under a load this weekend!!!!

Congrat's on the fire up. They always sound good when they roar to life.

any way i was checking out your hardware Rbob

To use an EBL in place of a '7730 ECM some changes have to be made. Just want to be sure that this is understood before any purchase is made. The 3 harness connectors for the ECM need to be re-pinned down to 2 connectors. Easy to do, pop a pin out, insert into a new location.

The '7730 ECM has the VSS buffer and knock sensor module internal to it. With an EBL setup these are external to the ECM. Easy to obtain and wire in. GM used both in millions of vehicles. Should also order the EBL with the optional Port Mod. Changes the injector firing rate to one better suited for a port injected engine.

The '86 through '89 TPI systems are MAF. They all use the 1227165 ECM.
