Making ALDL cable
Basically I have an 82 camaro w/ an 86 vette motor w/ TPI, and an 88 iroc wiring harness. The motor will run but very poorly and I want to run a scan for the first time.
I would like to know what wiring diagram to use when building the ALDL cable, and what the difference is in them. (I have found 4 different ones that say they work) I understand that in some of the diagrams it is the power source that differs. I am not concerned w/ that I would just like to know why they have different resistors, number of transistors, layouts, etc. Which will work for my car. I am running Tunerpro on my laptop.(serial port)
Anything will help. Thanks

Re: Making ALDL cable
Best bet for an ALDL cable is a 2-transistor with external power. Or one of those that uses a max232 with external power.
Note that your ECM will require a 10K resistor across pins A & B (ALDL conn) to connect. Once connected remove this resistor.
RBob.
