frozen coolant, running rough and code 51

My daily driver is a '92 C1500 with a L-31 Vortec, Edelbrock 3505 MPFI and 5 spd.

During one of our below zero days this winter, my coolant froze and blew off the upper radiator hose. I parked the truck until spring so I could check the freeze plugs, radiator, heater core etc. with straight water.

Today I added water and there were no external leaks, the water temp was normal and no signs of water in the oil. Unfortunatly the motor runs very rough, lacks power and has difficulty reving. I reset the computer codes and it idled better but still ran poorly.

I checked the codes and a 51 is showing.

How can frozen coolant and no apparent mechanical damage cause PROM damage? Input on this would be gladly welcomed.

Re: frozen coolant, running rough and code 51

The plan for this weekend is to hook up the laptop with EASE diagnostic software. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for?
