Is the ECM messin up my speedo?

My speedo only works when you get on the gas. Its a 92 RS so it's electronic.

The ECMs in the TBI cars don't have anyhting to do with the VSS. There is a separate 4-out buffer box that converts the mag VSS signal to pulses streams. These streams each go to the speedo, ECM, and cruise.

I would try replacing the VSS first, that would be more likely to go bad than the buffer box or speedo.
