I bought a 91 RS that I thought had the original L03. Turns out it has a 350 in it. I think it is the L05. it was put in pretty half-a**. I think it still has the 305 computer on it. i'm sure something needs to be done about this for it to run at its potential, so do I need to swap the ECM (ECM and computer are the same thing, right?) or will getting a chip burned take care of it? I don't know enough about these to understand if the actual computer makes a difference or just the tune contained in the chip.

I'll have to learn to tune later but thats at least a year off so I need to do something to get a good baseline for the engine to run off. Ideas?

 

Check the TBI section they have a while sticky on a 305 to 350 swap, the 305 computer can be used on a 350 there the same in thirdgens, only the chip is different, dont quote me on that though. The only thing that needs to be changed is the chip. You need to either get someone to burn you one or DIY. I have a 350 run by a 305 computer and chip and it runs fine, it just runs lean.

 

i have a lo3, 700r4 and i have access to an ambulance computer from a early 90's gm van, does anybody think or know if it will have any more potential "power" that a stock one?
