can an ECM have a permanent prom?
I pulled an ecm out of an 85 pontiac firebird trans am 350 the other day and had a question: did that particular ecm have a permanent prom? because when i look at it it looks like it was embedded or made permanent in the ecm
oh yeah, its for sale.

Re: can an ECM have a permanent prom?
I'm not familiar enough to say what was in those cars without doing some research, but if there's a label on it with a number beginning with 122 (+4 digits) or maybe 161 (+5 digits) then it's easier for me to say what it is and where the prom is. The prom should have a label or some printing on it with 3-4 letters and maybe 4 digits. Isn't there an extra lid on the case? The prom should be directly under that, but could of course be soldered directly on the pcb.
If it's a 1228079 then I'm interested btw.

Ok, here's what I got..the prom is HLL7741. I can not read the whole number on the sticker, but it is 7-6??? Looks like 8132 above the HLL on the prom. Pics on ebay, user mitalegatr. there is other info there as well..If you need it and we can deal, I will pull it. Let me know, thanks.
