ECM replacement

Have an 88 305 TPI and have done quit a bit of troubleshooting and seem to have narrowed down my trouble to be either the ECM or possibly the Eprom. In field service mode (A&B) jumpered it would run ok, but now it won't run at all. My question is if I replace the ECM with an aftermarket ECM (non-AC Delco) does the assemble come with the Eprom included or do you have to purchase seperately? I want to think it's an assembly (kit), but I'm not sure. I know you can replace the Eprom (for example with a modified or HP version) and use the same ECM, but if I purchase a stock OEM replacement ECM does it come with a matching Eprom? Thanks for your help.

Re: ECM replacement

If you buy an OEM replacement ECM, you typically just move your EPROM over to the new ECM. The EPROM has the appropriate bin file for your particular engine. I doubt your existing EPROM is bad, but if it is you can just go get one with the same broadcast code from a local salvage yard.

As for other non -OEM ECM's you would have to ask the ECMmanufacturer that question.
