need ecm to run?

Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9bolt
need ecm to run?
so i plan to swap my engine for a carbed 350 once it is exempt from emissions. my question would be is the ecm required for anything else to run? i.e. transmission etc.? thanks

i did this conversion..you will need a new distributor and you will have to figure out what ur gonna do with the fuel delivery..you can hook up a regulator to the existing setup....lockup, they sell kits for that...gauges also need to be rewired..how much horsepower in the motor? are you changing ur tranny at all??

I dont even have the stock ECM in my car. No rewiring of the gauges required.
You will have to get a vacuum advance distributor.

And there's a tech article and a sticky post in the carb forum that answers your question.
Are you sure its worth it? I can understand wanting to get rid of the TBI, but isnt TPI, LT1, or LS1 better than downgrading to a carb?
