Do I need ECM?

I bought a 90 RS with original 305 that had a carbed 350 put in her. The 350 is from an older vehicle which did not use the ECM. I was reading another thread on here where a member was doing the same sort of thing. It said that the speedometer needed to be re-wired as well as a change of distributor and something to do with the VATS relay. The distributor came with the 350 so I shouldn't need another right? Is there anything else that I need the ECM for? I already know about the torque converter lock-up. I want to get rid of as much wiring as I need, because I'm obviously not using any of it and it's just a clutter..... We're gunna be putting the engine in this weekend so any suggestions would be great as soon as you get to them...

Thanks
-G
