TPS is messed up
I have a 1987 2.8L V6. It is the MPFI model engine. My TPS (throttle positioning sensor), Is way off. I hooked up a volt meter to it and it said 2.1 for idol. It is supposed to be at 0.5 to 0.7 on idol, and 4.5 to 4.7 at full throttle. I do not know how to adjust it. Please reply with answers

Re: TPS is messed up
The adjustable TPS have slotted holes for the mounting screws. Loosening the two screws will allow the TPS to be moved for adjustment.
However, being at 2.1V is a far way off. It may be that the TPS is bad. Try adjusting it first, but if it doesn't cooperate then best to replace it.

Re: TPS is messed up
once you loosen your tps (2 screws, top and bottom) you can turn it like a dial. Turn it clockwise and counter clockwise is how you adjust it. Just like RBob said, play around with it and see what changes, if not by much, then replace it!
OH, and it should be on a V6 engine set at 0.35v to 0.67v! get it halfway in between, something like 0.50v-0.53v. 0.35v will run lean and 0.67v will run more rich.
V8's are set at 0.46v - 0.62v, FYI.

Re: TPS is messed up
Does any have a pic of a disgram to show? The 4 of us have already told sscamaroracer87 how to adjust the TPS and He/She is not getting it!
sscamaroracer87 might have the multimeter on the wrong setting! I've set mine before, but I CAN'T remember what the proper setting is!(Measurement).
Other then that, I don't know what else to say/tell!

Re: TPS is messed up

the sensor should look like that have elongated holes that the screws go into, losen the screw slightly and turn the black plastic clockwise or counter clock wise
