vette - Bird prom swap

Can a prom chip from a 1991 Corvette be swapped into the computer in my 91GTA? I ask because I found a performance chip for sale for a 1991 350 auto Corvette, and I'd like to buy it if it will work in my 350 auto GTA.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: vette - Bird prom swap

Yes & no. You can use the PROM or MEMCAL from the Vette in your car. And it will run.

However, it is not a direct replacement. The SES will be on as your car doesn't have an oil temperature sensor that the Vette engine has. The fan(s) may be inverse where they run when the engine is cold, and off on a hot engine.

The biggest issue is that the Corvette has '113 aluminum heads vs. your car having iron heads ('093?). So the timing tables will be all wrong.

RBob.

How much is the prom?

Even if the programming on it is junk, these memcals are getting hard to find. They used to go for like $45 new years ago, now guys are asking a premium.

My point is, if it's cheap enough, it might be worth it as a spare memcal.
