Which ecu to run in my 85 l69

i have both 1227169 and 1228079. My confusion is this, i know the 7169 was for the H.O. but it is my understanding that there were no H.O.'s made in 87. i assume the H.O. ecu's have a more aggressive timing setup than the non's, so how than can the 8079 be a better ecu to run on a H.O. (which is what i deduce after all of my surfing on this)?

A search may show something. A good friend of mine bought an 1985 HO manual trans in 1986. Great car. I always wanted one. I think you might achieve same just advancing the dist a couple degrees. I assumed car is a computer carb ?
