Coil Near Plug using wasted Spark Tech

OK... I might have hit the pipe a little hard tonight, but hear me out.

I have a 6 Cyl and use a 7747 ECM with DIS and it works like a charm, except for one thing...... PLUG WIRES.

My current thought is to use 6 small coils and wire the negative side to the the coils to the DIS controller and have them still fire in pairs (wasted spark) but have them coil near plug so I can do away with the long plug wires.

My concerns would be firing 2 coils at once instead of the 2 pole coils pull to much power and burn/overheat the driver/electronics out of the controller.

Does anyone know of the type of coil that would work or has anyone done it before?..... is it as dependable as DIS?

With the wasted spark and coil for each cyl, I could free up a lot of room to put it anywhere and might look pretty cool. The DIS controller has a + and - for each of the 3 coils and wanting to extend that to 6 coils.

Thanks

Re: Coil Near Plug using wasted Spark Tech
Can use six CDI units to take the load off the DIS module drivers, one for each coil. The other issue is that many GM DIS modules control dwell. They use the coil current to read the saturation level and adjust the dwell real time accordingly.

Without a coil of the proper load, the DIS module shuts down.
